Boeing Honors Highest-Performing Suppliers with Global Award

CHICAGO - March 26, 2003 - Boeing [NYSE:BA] officials will present today the second annual Suppliers of the Year awards to 14 Suppliers that have consistently demonstrated excellence in the delivery of high-quality products and services to The Boeing Company. The companies, with representatives attending from four countries, will be honored this evening during an awards ceremony at the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

"These suppliers have stellar reputations as partners to Boeing, working to continually provide great technical and business solutions, while improving cost and quality for our customers," said Bill Stowers, vice president of Supplier Management for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. Stowers chairs the companywide Supplier Management Process Council, which provides strategic direction and ensures process continuity for managing a supplier base of more than 11,300 suppliers in 66 countries.

"This is our opportunity to acknowledge the unique contribution these best-in-class suppliers have made to the success of Boeing and our customers," said Stowers. "More than ever, we recognize how vital our high-performing, worldwide supplier network is to us in creating a world-class global enterprise."

The companywide Boeing Suppliers of the Year award recognizes a select group of the many outstanding suppliers that bring their knowledge, experience, talent and leadership to bear on the success of the entire Boeing enterprise. Winning suppliers in each category, of which eight are small businesses, were selected on statistical measurements of quality, on-time delivery, post delivery support and cost. The nominees were identified, selected and approved through a common, and exhaustive, review process.

Brek?s on-time delivery rating is presently at 97.3 percent. They work successfully to meet Boeing budget targets. Among four Boeing sites supported by Brek, the small business has realized double-digit percentage savings of more than $8.7 million during the four-year contract period.
